How ChronoSagas Works
Every book on ChronoSagas is a portal into a playable world. Here's how publishing, permissions, royalties, serials, and ratings work.
Publishing a book
Finish a book in Chronostates (or upload a manuscript), then run the publish wizard: pick the book, choose a pen name, design or generate a cover, set a price (or make it free), and publish. Listings go live immediately after an automated content check. You can edit, re-publish, or unpublish anytime from your author dashboard.
World permissions
Your world is yours. Two separate permissions control what readers can do with it — both are toggles you set when publishing, and both are OFF by default:
- 1. Play my world. Readers can start their own playthrough seeded from your book's world bible. They play a private copy — your timeline is never touched. Without this permission, the "Play This World" button doesn't appear.
- 2. Allow spinoff books. A second, separate permission: others may write and publish books set in your world. If you write a book, you need to grant this before anyone can create a spinoff. Spinoffs are detected automatically at publish time — without your permission, publishing a spinoff is blocked.
The royalty rule
The split is fixed and simple. The author selling the book always earns 80%. On spinoffs, the original world's author always gets 13% — no matter how many spinoff generations deep the chain goes, the 13% flows to the author of the original book the world came from.
| Share of every sale | Original book | Spinoff book |
|---|---|---|
| You (the current author) | 80% | 80% |
| The original world's author | — | 13% |
| Chronostates | 18% | 5% |
| Processing fee | 2% | 2% |
Earnings accrue to your author payout balance after each completed sale.
Spinoffs, step by step
- An author publishes a book and enables both permissions.
- You hit "Play This World" and shape your own version of their world.
- You turn your playthrough into a book of your own.
- When you publish it, ChronoSagas recognizes the lineage automatically: your book is listed as a spinoff, and 13% of every sale goes to the original author — you keep your 80% like any other author.
Serials
Serials release chapter by chapter instead of all at once. Enable serial mode on your book's manage page, release chapters from the release queue (immediately or on a schedule), and your listing updates with every drop. Readers can follow a serial to get notified when a new chapter lands. Serials are free to read in this version.
The Chronorating
The Chronorating is a book's community score: the average of all reader ratings, from 1 to 5 stars. Reviews from verified purchasers are marked as such. Rate a book from its page after reading — every rating updates the book's Chronorating instantly.
